A Christmas Tree with snow

A week in the life of a HR Consultant

November 22, 20243 min read

This week in the UK has been all about staying warm thanks to snow & sub-zero temperatures. A reminder of the importance of planning & adaptability in the workplace & employee wellbeing in challenging conditions. Ensuring that teams are comfortable & safe—whether working remotely or on-site. For on-site, ensuring teams have warm spaces, flexible work hours to avoid unsafe travel, & encouraging frequent breaks. For remote workers, reminding of time for personal care checking in regularly can make a big difference.

My sources of inspiration & warmth this week have come from:

👉Bolton Unique Ladies Online which was all about introducing new folks to each other & planning our Christmas campaign

👉 Over at Stockport Unique Ladies at a very chilly but always beautiful Houldsworth Golf Club - thank you
Lisa Brown for such a lovely meeting & our gifts and to Pam Shanker & Linda Booth for sharing your expertise - handouts & case studies, double win for me.

👉Lots more brilliant coaching sessions with
Potential Realised - from prepping Level 5 learners for End Point Assessment, to ensuring Level 3 learners are ready to submit their first assignment

👉Our annual Careers Carousel over at Youth Challenge - a challenging one this year logistically due to so many moving pieces for those taking part - however the day went well & the young people did really well accepting us into their world, as this is not easy for them given the challenges they have been presented with so far in their young life's. The teachers as always are just spectacular in creating a safe & secure place for them. Thank you to everyone who took part & let's hope our small nuggets of information resonates with them - maybe not today but hopefully in their futures - the important thing is we did it & they took part.

I think it's fair to say, I had no one inspired enough to think that HR might be a career for them but thanks to good old Jenga & a box of chocolates I had engaged young people & they now know what a contract of employment is, what a probation period & grievance are, the importance of following rules especially health & safety, & qualities an employer is looking for & hopefully when they are in their first jobs, they will remember what HR is all about

👉And back at the ranch, thank you to
Angela Senior🌸 Lisa Thompson MCIPD Jane Southall for all of your care & attention with our client needs - lots of complex specialist projects on the go & getting the most out of HR Software & sorting employment documentation suites

The kids are off on inset days today & Monday so I am taking advantage of an extended longer weekend - which in our world means mums taxi & bank is open for 2 extra shifts 🤣❤️🤗

Have a lovely end to your week & a great weekend ❄️🌞🌲☃️
