Learning at Work Week 2022

May 16, 20222 min read

It is important for staff to see that this week has an impact, so remember to link your plans back to the Business goals and to the needs of the staff.” - Pam Molyneux

Coordinated by The Campaign for Learning, they offer resources and ideas to run creative, innovative and inclusive activities – with this years theme being, “Learning Uncovered”.

As a business, this is a brilliant opportunity to create change around attitudes to learning and work:

  • A good place to start would be to raise awareness of the opportunities to learn and the opportunities they can deliver for the business and individual

  • Invite feedback to help form future planning and strategies

  • Encourage staff to explore different ways of learning

  • Celebrate different learning styles and abilities

  • Recognise talent and the effort staff of making

  • Launch or refresh any new platforms sharing learning interventions

Taking “Learning Uncovered” further, why not try diving into the 3 strands in more detail: Uncover learning potential; Uncover hidden powers; and Uncover new dimensions

  1. Uncover Learning Potential – how can you build interest and motivation and break down those barriers into lifelong learning?

So, on this week and beyond, promote how the business supports learning.

Ask staff what they would like and need.

Offer activities to get staff thinking about their goals and aspirations.

  2. Uncover Hidden Powers – do we really know those hidden talents of our colleagues?  The languages they speak, the technology knowledge they have, the science abilities they have.

How can we create an environment where staff are comfortable sharing such and how do can you capture that?

Why not try workshops, shadowing, skills sessions where staff can share and explore further?

  3. Uncover new dimensions – things have changed so much in the last few years and we need to support staff with their physical, mental and financial wellbeing more than ever.

Encourage the learning of something new around health and wellbeing e.g. financial management, the benefits of eating a balanced diet, why a good nights sleep is so important.

What experiences can staff share which can be a massive learning for other staff, are there local experts that can share their knowledge?

What will you do this learning at work week?  How will you capture your progress and share the successes from the week?  What will you do to continue the progress you make during this week going forward?

It is important for staff to see that this week has an impact, so remember to link your plans back to the Business goals and to the needs of the staff.
