When managers are supported and empowered, they can better guide and uplift their teams..” - Pam Molyneux

It’s #WorldWellbeingWeek this week and we wanted to share our 5 top tips to help with manager wellbeing.

At PM Business Support Services, we believe that a healthy and thriving workplace starts with the well-being of its managers. When managers are supported and empowered, they can better guide and uplift their teams.

So how do we do that?

Here are some of our key strategies to enhance your manager well-being, resulting in a positive impact on employee engagement and success, ultimately creating that thriving environment and team:

1.      Encourage Self-Care:

Remind managers to prioritize their own well-being by practicing self-care.

This is simple things such as taking regular breaks, getting adequate rest between one working day and the next.

Creating some basic healthy habits.

When your managers are in good shape, they can effectively support and inspire their teams.

2.      Encourage Work-Life Integration:

We all strive for that great work life balance!  What about if we look at it from an integration perspective rather than complete separation.

When you are passionate about what you do and enjoy what you do, it can be hard to just switch off.

So helping your managers to find a healthy balance between work and personal life can help to prevent burnout.

Some basic ones to start with - setting realistic expectations of what is achievement within the working time available; taking holidays; finishing work on time; not answering emails or calls out of hours

3.      Equip with Resources:

Ensure your managers have the tools and resources they need to succeed – this is in the practical sense and also within the management toolkit.

Working IT equipment; access to working systems; training and guidance on managing a team around support strategies for their team, effective communication and conflict resolution.

A manager equipped to do their job, is focused on doing the job, rather than fumbling around trying to find the tools to do their job.

4.      Foster Collaboration Between Your Managers:

Facilitate opportunities of collaboration and peer support among your managers.

Only 1 manager – no problem, research local membership and networking opportunities for them to be among other managers to share their experiences and learn from.

Your managers need a place to feel supported, be supported and to support among other managers.

Such environments will help your managers to learn and grow, ultimately helping your teams to learn and grow.

5.      Facilitate Skill Development:

Invest in training and coaching opportunities to enhance your managers leadership skills, stress management capabilities and emotional intelligence.

Such empowered managers elevate their competence and confidence, thereby helping your teams to thrive!

Hope you have found those 5 tips helpful!
